STRAWBERRY CREAM CHEESE COBBLER

I recently saw a recipe online for strawberry cream cheese cobbler. Well, this is my version. It is awesome!

This is such an easy recipe and a quick way to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. I’ve made this for family events and everyone loves it. Sadly, I haven’t given out the recipe to anyone until now, but my sisters will be delighted when they see it here. Enjoy!

This post features a picture guide on how to make a delicious Strawberry Cream Cheese Cobbler, a perfect early summer dessert! When searching for recipes, I was hoping to find a picture guide to help me get a quick idea on how to make a cobbler. The visuals are so helpful for me, but I could not find one. So I will provide a picture tutorial in this post. The recipe I used contains pieces of cream cheese, an added bonus. Other types of berries or fruits can be used in place of strawberries, or you can use a mix. I made a couple of smaller changes to the original recipe as I wanted it to be a little bit more flavorful, but it also was very good just like it was.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1⁄2cup butter (melted)
  • 1egg (lightly beaten)
  • 1cup milk
  • 1cup all-purpose flour
  • 1cup sugar
  • 2teaspoons baking powder
  • 1⁄2teaspoon salt
  • 1cup chopped toasted walnuts (optional)
  • 2quarts strawberries (capped and washed ~ cut large berries in half)
  • 4ounces low-fat cream cheese (Neufchatel preferred, cut into small pieces)
  • Plain Greek yogurt (optional) or vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Pour melted butter into a 9-by-13-inch glass baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the egg, milk, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Pour directly over the butter in the baking dish, but do not stir.
  4. Add the strawberries, arranging in a single layer as much as possible.
  5. Sprinkle cream cheese pieces and optional walnuts over strawberries.
  6. Place in preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until top is golden brown and edges are bubbling. (Crust rises up and around the fruit, but fruit will still peek out of top.).
  7. Serve hot out of the oven with choice of topping, if desired.
